The information on this web site has been researched and collected over a period of years. It has being gathered from many sources, sometimes the process is easy while on many occasions it proves to be difficult and time consuming. Whenever possible Certificates and other 'official' documentation such as Birth, Death, Marriage, Baptism, Shipping Records, Court Records as well as Newspaper clippings and Advertisements were obtained to verify events. Documents such as these often have additional information about other family members which can be of great assistance with documented proof of things such as their ages, birth and marriage dates, who they married and at what location. Other information of a 'story' or 'hearsay' basis has been used but is unverified; you may form your own opinions about these events. Stories do get embellished from generation to generation.
Wise words from Joan Elizabeth Ainsworth;
"Unless our ancestor was famous and has been documented for historical purposes and these are few, we find that mostly our ancestors are born, pass through life, die and are forgotten, all we are left with are sterile, official pieces of paper that are collected by all family historians or cold headstones. Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates record our passage through life, but do not give any insight into the 'flesh and blood' of a person who lived, loved, was happy or sad, amicable or downright nasty and aggressive. We have little factual information about those who went before us and we can only imagine what their lives were like by reading accounts of others of the same era. Our generation has the ability with the technology available today to record their memories for future generations and I urge them to do this. I will leave you with two words REMEMBER ME"
